To this day, pianos are still produced in Brunswick, and the resale of a part of the shares to Parsons Music Group has spread the sale of instruments also in Asia. In Germany, Fredrich Grotrian bought out Steinweg’s shares in 1856, and rapidly developed the company’s business, creating world-famous instruments. Theodor, like his father, decided to emigrate to the United States where, after changing his name to Steinway, he gave birth to one of the most prestigious brands in the world – Steinway & Sons. He passed his business to his son Theodor, who moved the business to Brunswick, where the Grotrian Steinweg company still operates today. ![]() The beginnings of Grotrian Steinweg date back to 1835, when Heinrich Steinweg, began producing pianos in his factory in Germany.
